GhostDrive Protocol is the technical core of Drive369 — a next-gen decentralized protocol for secure, efficient, intelligent data handling. Key elements:
Client-side encryption
Data is encrypted before it leaves the device. Keys stay with the user (tied to their wallet or device). Nodes that store or process shards never see plaintext. We use standard, open cryptography (e.g., SHA-256 for hashing; AES-256-GCM or similar for symmetric encryption). Privacy is default under a Zero-Trust model.
Fragmentation & sharding
Large files are split into shards. Each shard is encrypted and distributed to multiple nodes. Optional erasure coding provides redundancy: from n total shards only k are needed to reconstruct the file, with redundancy ratio R = n / k. All sharding, encryption, and distribution are done client-side.
Tiered storage (hot + cold)
Frequently accessed data can be served from fast “hot” nodes (including your own devices), while bulk encrypted data is stored cost-effectively on Filecoin as “cold” storage. This balances speed and cost at scale.
Computed storage (intelligent compression/dedup)
Algorithms reduce redundancy (similar to dedup + compression), often yielding up to ~5× effective capacity gains in practice. As adoption grows, we extend these methods to approach “no-water storage” — minimal redundant bytes across the network.
On-the-fly indexing & secure streaming
Nodes validate integrity (hashes, signatures), support encrypted P2P streaming, and perform lightweight client-authorized preprocessing (e.g., secure metadata extraction, indexing). This makes your data AI-ready while keeping raw content private.

Private AI agents can think, plan, and act while preserving confidentiality. Training happens locally or on trusted encrypted nodes; raw personal data doesn’t leak. Agents can collaborate (with consent) across users for collective problem solving while preserving each party’s data sovereignty.
